PubMed : BAMBI protein is expressed in endothelial cells and is regulated by autophagy and lysosomal degradation. and has implications in tumor progression. Genomic organization of the mouse Nma/BAMBI gene and confirmed the chromosomal mapping to human chromosome 10 and mouse chromosome 2. Transcript levels of TGF-betas and their intracellular effectors correlated directly with genes encoding opioid peptides, whereas BAMBI correlated inversely. Overexpression of Nma/BAMBI in mouse odontoblast-like cell line MD10-A2 down-regulated expression of DSPP by 66% and up-regulated expression of DMP1 four-fold. we provide in vitro and in vivo evidence that BAMBI contributes to endothelial and vascular homeostasis suggest that BAMBI is involved in negative feedback loops that restrain the TGF-beta remodeling signals to protect the pressure-overloaded myocardium from uncontrolled extracellular matrix deposition in humans and mice these results provide strong evidence for an important role of endothelium rather than platelet BAMBI as a positive regulator of both thrombus formation and stability. BAMBI modulates the effects of diabetes on glomerular permselectivity in association with altered ERK1/2 and Smad1/5 signaling. BAMBI is required for normal C2C12 differentiation, and that its role in myogenesis is mediated by the Wnt/beta-catenin pathway.
